Three Wheeled Buggies
If you're looking for a buggy to run with or just a nifty stroller to tackle strolls around the neighborhood, three-wheeled buggies provide great mobility. Their compact design makes them easy to maneuver, even in tight spaces.
For a smooth ride, opt for a pram that has air-filled tyres. Look for three wheel pushchair with a 360deg front swivel wheel. However, they are prone to punctures, so make sure you are prepared with an repair kit.
Sturdy frame
The latest figures have been released that show that the three-wheeled buggie - a symbol of the noughties of more money than sense is in a decline. They've been replaced with four-wheelers which can be more versatile in terrain, while still looking swanky and being easy to push.
The general principle is that the larger the wheels are, the easier it will be for your buggy to cope with bumpy and rough pavements. Having larger wheels both front and back also makes it much easier to manoeuvre and more stable when walking downhill or over difficult terrain.
MFM reviewer Kath tried this buggy on an infant and a 3-year-old child and found it very durable. It handled cobbles, grass and rough pavements, aswell as dirt tracks and kerbs. Kath wrote "it feels sturdy to push and extremely solid when you're on rough terrain. The tyres, which are inflatable and need to be pumped regularly, have built-in suspension. This was very comfortable for my children.
Another thing to take into consideration is the seat size and shape. You will want it to be large enough for your child's comfort. You will also need it to recline to allow them to lie flat. Certain three-wheel buggies have the option of reclining completely, while others only allow for an adult facing one.
The Roma Atlas is a great alternative for off-road or walking in muddy areas. This buggy is suitable for a single child as early as birth, and can be adapted to accommodate two children as your family expands. It is suitable for babies and toddlers up to age 4 and comes with a bumper bar, raincover, improved 5-point harness and large padded seat unit. Storage options are also great with a large basket with zip pockets on the hood and an extra pouch at the rear of seat unit.
Larger wheels
Larger wheels give your buggy more stability while driving over rough terrain. This is ideal for buggies that are off-road. They also allow you to maneuver the pushchair in tight spaces. A lot of three-wheeled buggies come with swivel front wheels to aid you in maneuvering around corners with ease, whereas others are designed for running and come with fixed front wheels that lock to improve the speed and stability with the speed at which they can be pushed. This is also helpful if you bump into an unintentional tree root or curb, since the front wheel will lift up slightly to prevent you from hitting it.

Many 3 wheeled pushchairs have air-filled tyres which allow them to tackle a broad range of terrains. They are also more flexible than 4 wheelers. They are also lighter. However, they're prone to punctures and you'll need an repair kit, spare inner tube and pump in your bag.
Some of our favourite 3-wheelers include the Mountain Buggy Core and Venicci Carbo Lux. These buggies, as per MFM's Kath, have larger wheels which she claims "perform well on gravel roads, grass and market town cobbles", and can easily climb or descend kerbs. They also come with a suspension system that in her words "smoothes out bumps very effectively".
The downside of having bigger wheels is that they make buggies quite large and can struggle to fit through narrow spaces. This could be a problem if you use it for jogging, or need to fit through doorways that are narrow while traveling. The majority of models come with small folding options that permit you to take off the front wheels and store them in a more compact manner.
Easy to maneuver
A three-wheeled buggy is easier to maneuver with children. The way in which they are built ensures that the front wheels rotate at a quick pace and are incredibly easy to manoeuvre which makes them perfect for difficult terrains such as parks, cobbles, bumpy pavements and dirt tracks.
MFM reviewer Kath tried a 3-wheeler with her toddler. she wrote: "The Terrain is a delight to navigate in rough terrain. The swivel wheel front was especially useful." I was also impressed by how well it coped with bumps, particularly when using the hand-operated brake. I found it extremely stable when going downhill or on uneven ground."
The only downside to this great maneuverability, is that the larger wheels of a 3 wheel buggy can sometimes make it difficult to squeeze into tight spaces. This is something you should keep in mind when you live in an urban area. If this is an issue then a 4-wheeler might be better for you.
Bumper bar
Bumper bars protect your child from bumps and scrapes when they are out and out and about. These bumper bars are simple to install, and will allow your child to feel secure and safe out and out and about.
Created to match the sleek lines of your Slim Twin stroller, this bumper bar is an upholstered and soft surface that provides a comfortable spot for your child to hang to while walking. The sturdy construction and durable design ensures that your child will enjoy a stroll without fearing of falling out of the buggy or leaning too far ahead.
The sling's fabric is placed inside the frame it is not positioned on top like the modular seat. This creates a lower centre of gravity for your newborn at the perfect height and also delivers great weight distribution, making it easier to push over curbs (it is much easier to push the stroller up and over than you may think). MFM reviewer Kath said it was great on grass and cobbles. It's also a great option for running thanks to its tyres that are filled with air and a locking swivel wheels.
This bumper bar is sure to make heads turn wherever it's used. It has a sophisticated and elegant appearance. Available in a variety of finishes and colours and designs, it can be tailored to fit your style. The bumper bar can be removed and put in place using the quick-release mechanism. The bumper bar is easy to clean since it is made of sturdy materials. This makes it a great choice for families looking for a stylish and safe stroller accessory.
Comfort
A 3-wheel buggy is the ideal off-road vehicle for maneuverability and performance. With perfect design and engineering, as well as weight distribution this kind of buggy is able to turn on a dime and be a breeze to steer using just one hand. All Mountain Buggies meet the same rigorous global stability standards and tests as buggies with 4 wheels.
Designed with fabric sling seat that is tucked away inside the frame rather than over it like modular seats, the Sport's smart design allows it to have a lower centre of gravity that is the perfect height for your child - giving you a more comfortable push, a lighter curb pop (you do not require the same amount of weight or effort to push the hood of your buggy up and over a curb) and better stability and balance. With 16" rear wheels, lockable front wheel, and tyres that are air-filled that allow you to enjoy an easier, more comfortable jogging.
As the only all-terrain pushchair in our collection that comes with a seat for parents that can also accommodate a carrycot or car seat, you can future proof your family and take pleasure in every adventure starting at day's end and for years to come in the footprint of one buggy!
But that's not the only reason to adore this buggy - our MFM reviewer Kath was amazed by how big it is too. There's a nimble large basket that's surprising spacious for a vehicle that's this big. There's also a handy pouch on the back of the unit, and two smaller mesh pockets under the hood where you can keep your keys and phone.
